our background
Over the decades, our nation Liberia has suffered many disasters, such as the brutal 14-year civil war that started in 1989 and the recent Ebola outbreak in 2014. Due to these disasters, an influx amount of foreign aid and charitable donations flooded our country. While aid is essential when necessary, the surplus amount received has created a mentality of dependency amongst our youth.
Project Change exists to eradicate the dependent mindset fostered in our youth. We change the mindsets of the youth from one that says “I cannot” to one that believes “I can.”
One way we do this is by hosting a series of paradigm-shifting workshops intended to influence the thought process of our youth. Once they begin to understand the need to become self-sustainable, we pair them with a mentor who will continue to steer their minds in the direction of productivity.
Then, through our Creative Hubs and Resource & Information Centers, we groom their entrepreneurial spirits, so they can create employment opportunities for, not just themselves, but also their communities which in turn helps us all to rebuild Liberia collectively.
"Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
- John F. Kennedy
our mission statement
The mission of this organization is to educate young men and women on the importance of self-sustainability and, most importantly, the necessary measures that need to be taken for our nation, Liberia, to become a land that sustains its people.
our vision statement
The vision is to see the youth come to realize that a sustainable future for our nation (Liberia) ONLY depends on what each individual has to offer, not what other foreign nations have to offer, and therefore, be willing to collectively help rebuild a productive Liberia.
building trust & credibility
The success of our organization is deeply rooted in our intense desire and commitment to see our country prosper. We gain trust and credibility by adhering to our core values- putting the needs of our country before ourselves, upholding a culture of respect & integrity, practicing what we preach, never accepting failure, and free of partiality.
